Why I'm Running
I am running for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals because I believe that the fairness, integrity and dignity of the criminal justice system are of the highest importance to our society and cannot be taken for granted. As Texas' highest criminal court, the Court of Criminal Appeals must lead both in applying the law fairly and in making sure the system works for Texas.
We need a Court that reflects today's Texas values—tough, yes, as well as evenhanded, modern, open and respected.
Join me in restoring public confidence in Texas's highest criminal court.

The Court of Criminal Appeals
The appeals of all cases in which the death penalty has been assessed come directly to the Court of Criminal Appeals from the trial courts.
The appeals of all other criminal cases go to one of the fourteen Courts of Appeals in Texas, and their decisions may be reviewed by the Court of Criminal Appeals.
